Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest

We are pleased to announce the 2014-15 Theme – “George Rogers Clark or Lexington and Concord”. This contest was developed to
help stimulate interest in American History. The competition was designed to support the 4th or 5th grade curriculum in which American History is taught. All entries will be judged using the following rules and criteria.

Note:  Deadline for the contest is April 15th.

Rules and Guidelines
1. The poster will be on standard poster board (22″x28″).
2. Any media of drawing material may be used. Unpublished material (not commerically printed) may be pasted on the board. Three dimensional posters will not be accepted.
3. The subject must conform to the announced theme. It must show evidence of research. The student may include a brief explanation on the poster concerning any symbols used.
4. Group posters are not allowed. Each poster must be the work of an individual student.
5. All entries must have the following data taped to the poster: Name, Address, Home Phone Number, Age, Grade, Name of Teacher, Name of School, School Address, Name of Sponsoring SAR Chapter and State Society.

Judging Criteria
1. Does the poster express the annual theme?
2. Does the poster show originality by the student?
3. Does the poster show evidence of research?
4. Does the poster show creativity and artistic merit?
5. Is the poster neat? Creative use of a computer can improve the overall appearance and neatness of the poster.
6. Does the poster accurately represent the historical event?

Awards and Prizes

National Level Prizes
Winner: First Place Blue Rosette Ribbon and Certificate, $150.
1st Runner-up: Second Place Red Rosette Ribbon and Certificate, $100.
2nd Runner-up: Third Place White Rosette Ribbon and Certificate, $50.

State Level Prizes
First Place: Blue Ribbon and Certificate, $100.
Second Place: Red Ribbon and Certificate, $75.
Third Place: White Ribbon and Certificate, $50.
Fourth Place: Ribbon and Certificate, $30.
Fifth Place: Ribbon and Certificate, $15.
