DESCRIPTION:First Amphibious Landing Memorial – RIBBON CUTTING – Fisher Family Pier\, 222 N Pompano Beach Boulevard – 10:00 AM \nCompatriots\, \nOn behalf of the Florida Society\, it’s my pleasure to extend an invitation to SAR Compatriots across the country to join us for the dedication of our First Amphibious Assault Memorial in Pompano Beach\, Florida on March 14\, 2026. \nFor those who are not familiar with it\, on March 3\, 1776\, the Continental Maries staged their first amphibious landing at Nassau in the Bahamas.  The Florida Society has partnered with the City of Pompano Beach\, Florida to erect a monument to commemorate this significant event in the history of the United States Marine Corps. \nI have attached a “Save the Date” reminder as well as a Color Guard registration form.  The dedication ceremony will be held at 10:00am on March 14\, 2026 at the Fisher Family Pier (222 N. S. Hwy 441 four lane North to Highway 51.  At the traffic light turn right going East approximately 2 miles. \nTurn left on Damascus Road across from Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. \nGo 7 miles to a 4 way stop.  Go straight approximately 500 ft.  Event is on the left. \n  \nFrom Gainesville\, go Hwy 365 to Level Grove Road exit at Cornelia.  Turn right.  At first red light\, turn right on Highway 441 South  4 lane.   \nDrive 8 miles to GA Highway 198 East.   Turn left. \nOn Hwy. 198 East\, drive 3 miles to Damascus Road. \nTurn left on Damascus Road. \nEvent is approximately 500 feet on the left.
