Parade STARTS at 10:45 A.M.  \n10:45 A.M. – The parade will start and will march two complete times around Washington Square and will end behind the courthouse at Fort Washington Park. \n11:15 A.M. – Georgia Society SAR Elijah Clarke Militia and other re-enactors with black-powder muskets will present a dramatic portrayal of the Battle of Kettle Creek in Fort Washington Park behind the Wilkes County Courthouse. \n11:45 A.M. – The Georgia Society SAR Color Guard–Elijah Clarke Militia and others\, will present arms and fire a thunderous musket salute as the Revolutionary War Colors are lowered and our Present-day National Colors are raised on the Wilkes County Courthouse Flag pole.

SAR Color Guard members will bring pomp and circumstance to the occasion.  A free indoor chili cookout and dessert buffet at noon will be served compliments of the Elijah Clark State Park\, Lincoln County Historical Society; Atlanta and William Few Chapters GASSAR; Elijah Clarke Chapter NSDAR. DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, October 20\, 2022\, at 10:00 AM\, a ceremony will be held at the Kettle Creek Battlefield for the installation of a new entrance sign. \nCongressman Jody Hice will be making remarks about the affiliation of the Kettle Creek Battlefield with the National Park Service. \nAs part of the ceremony\, we would like to have members of the Georgia Society Militia conduct a musket firing. \n\n\n\n Who:  Congressman Jody Hice Kettle Creek Battlefield Association\, and other historic preservation leaders \n  \nWhat:  Kettle Creek Battlefield Sign Ribbon Cutting \n  \nWhen:  10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday\, October 20\, 2022 \n  \nWhere: Entrance of Kettle Creek Battlefield \n106 War Hill Rd\, Washington\, GA 30673 \nGPS: N33.691 W82.886 \n(Nine miles southwest of Washington\, off Georgia Route 44) \n  \nEfforts to have Kettle Creek Battlefield made into a national park date back nearly 100 years. On multiple occasions\, U.S. Senator Richard Russell pushed for acquisition of the property. Throughout the 1970s\, Georgia Representative Robert Grier Stephens\, Jr. and Georgia Senator Herman Talmadge introduced bills to establish Kettle Creek as a national monument. More recently\, Rep. Hice welcomed NPS Acting Director Dan Smith to the site and introduced legislation (H.R. 306) to direct the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study of the battlefield. The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives on December 3\, 2020.

DESCRIPTION:BRIER CREEK CHAPTER and  WIREGRASS CHAPTER \nGeorgia Society Sons of the American Revolution invite you to attend the \n  \n242nd ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF BRIER CREEK \nSaturday\, March 6\, 2021\, at 11:00 a.m. Brier Creek Battlefield and Memorial Site Brannen’s Bridge Road \n(on right\, 100 yds north of Brier Creek landing/bridge) Screven County\, Georgia \n  \nCoordinates   N 32°48.328 °  W 81° 28.294 ° \nSAR\, DAR\, C.A.R.\, other patriotic and Lineage societies\, chapters\, and the general public are invited to the 242nd Anniversary of the Battle of Brier Creek.
