DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED due to weather related issues in the area.\nThe Henry Laurens Chapter (Aiken) South Carolina Society and the Colonel William Few Chapter (Augusta) Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution \nCordially invite you to attend the \n244th Anniversary Commemoration of the First Siege of Augusta \nSaturday\, 1:00 PM\, September 28\, 2024 \nSalvation Army Kroc Center Auditorium\, 1833 Broad Street\, Augusta\, Georgia \nSchedule of Events: \n\n9:30 AM – 12:00 PM. We will host a combined meeting of the Georgia and South Carolina C.A.R. in the Kroc Center Auditorium.\n12:00 PM – 1:00 PM. The local SAR chapters with assistance from the Augusta Chapter\, NSDAR\, will host a luncheon consisting of BBQ sandwiches\, potato salad\, and tea provided by Larry Sconyers BBQ in the Kroc Center Lunchroom. There will also be dessert. You must sign up for the luncheon in advance and the cost is $16.00 per person.\n1:00 PM – 1:45 PM. We will conduct the commemoration ceremony in the comfortable 300-seat Kroc Center Auditorium. The ceremony will consist of bringing greetings\, a battle seminar by Historian Steven Rauch and wreath presentations.\nFollowing the indoor ceremony\, we will go out to the battlefield behind the Kroc Center to watch a mock battle reenactment demonstration to be conducted by our militia and artillery sections firing black powder muskets and six black powder cannons.\n\n  \nSAR\, DAR\, C.A.R. and other patriotic and lineage societies and chapters are invited to participate in a formal wreath laying ceremony as part of the program. DESCRIPTION:Saturday Morning – February 8th\, 2025 \nA National Society SAR Historic Sites & Celebrations Committee Event Washington Square in Historic Downtown Washington\, GA 30673  \n9:50 A.M. – The Georgia Society SAR Elijah Clarke Militia Honor Guard with Musket Salutes will raise the 1776 Colors of the Revolutionary War on the Wilkes County Courthouse Flagpole. \n9:50 A.M. –12 Noon – Come experience Revolutionary Living History including demonstrations and performers.  Located just off the square in the Court Street Livery (16 W Court Street\, Washington\, GA) Look for the SAR Living History building signs. \n10:10 A.M. – The Georgia Society SAR combined Color Guard & Militia will gather at the Revolutionary War monument on the Washington City Square to Salute and Honor the Wilkes County Militia – (the Heroes of the Hornets’ Nest) and all Revolutionary War Patriots. \n10:30 A.M. – Color Guard and parade participants gather behind the Courthouse for the assembly of the Revolutionary War Parade — ALL the public (Children & Grownups) are welcome to participate in the event as our National Colors and re-enactors lead us around Washington Square.
