SUMMARY:Battle of Savannah Commemoration - 6:45 AM
DESCRIPTION:Subject: 2022 Battlefield Memorial March \nIn the early morning hours of October 9\, 1779\, the Battle of Savannah occurred on the current grounds of Coastal Heritage Society’s Tricentennial Park.  The battle was one of the bloodiest of the American Revolution\, where approximately 800 troops died or were wounded. \nOn Sunday\, October 9th\, 2022\, the Society\, our friends\, donors\, patriotic organizations\, and community leaders will follow in the footsteps of those who fought that day\, 243 years ago. \nOn behalf of Coastal Heritage Society\, we invite you to attend the 2022 Battlefield Memorial March to honor those who fought\, fell\, and sacrificed for our freedom.  The event will include a ceremonial march on the path of the allied attacking columns\, followed by a dedication of stones and a presentation of wreaths to commemorate the fallen soldiers. \nOn Sunday\, October 9th\, participants will meet at 6:45 AM in the Savannah History Museum parking lot at 303 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The march will begin promptly at 7:00 AM and will proceed down West Boundary Street and along Louisville Road\, where it will conclude at Battlefield Memorial Park. Breakfast and refreshments will be available following the ceremony for the event attendees. \nIndividuals and organizations are invited to bring a wreath to be presented during the ceremony.  lPlease contact me to RSVP for this event and to notify me whether you or your organization would like to bring a wreath. I can be contacted at dmccall@chsgeorgia.org or (912) 944-7457. \nThank you for your consideration and we look forward to hosting you in October. \nRegards\, \nDaniel McCall \nManager of Membership and Special Events \nCoastal Heritage Society \ndanmccallchs@gmail.com \nCell: 912-944-7457 \n

On multiple occasions\, U.S. Senator Richard Russell pushed for acquisition of the property. Throughout the 1970s\, Georgia Representative Robert Grier Stephens\, Jr. and Georgia Senator Herman Talmadge introduced bills to establish Kettle Creek as a national monument. More recently\, Rep.
