DESCRIPTION:Siege of Savannah – 2023 Battlefield Memorial March \nIn the early morning hours of October 9\, 1779\, the Battle of Savannah occurred on the current grounds of Coastal Heritage Society’s Tricentennial Park.  The battle was one of the bloodiest of the American Revolution\, where approximately 800 troops died or were wounded. \nOn Monday\, October 9th\, 2023\, the Society\, our friends\, donors\, patriotic organizations\, and community leaders will follow in the footsteps of those who fought that day\, 244 years ago. \nOn behalf of Coastal Heritage Society\, we invite you to attend the 2023 Battlefield Memorial March to honor those who fought\, fell\, and sacrificed for our freedom.  The event will include a ceremonial march on the path of the allied attacking columns\, followed by a dedication of stones and a presentation of wreaths to commemorate the fallen soldiers. \nOn Monday\, October 9th\, participants will meet at 8:45 AM in the Savannah History Museum parking lot at 303 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The march will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and will proceed down West Boundary Street and along Louisville Road\, where it will conclude at Battlefield Memorial Park. Breakfast and refreshments will be available following the ceremony for the event attendees. \nAdditional event details and wreath registration will be announced at a later date.
