SUMMARY:Brier Creek Commemoration- Education events at Battlefield
DESCRIPTION:246th Anniversary of the Battle of Brier Creek Weekend \nFriday\, March 7\, 2025 \nWe will have 4 sessions 9:00\, 10:30\, 12:00\, 1:30 at the battlefield with the following schedule for each. \nContact our event coordinator for reservations. \nSTATION #1: Dr. John Derden will share ideas for upcoming tours & present an overview of the history of the battlefield &; the direction to be taken to ensure a maximum acquisition of the findings on the site &; its preservation.\nSTATION #2: Steve Burke will share his lifetime collection of Revolutionary period artifacts\, weapons\, clothes\, etc. with assistance from Lee Herron and Don Bazemore.\nSTATION # 3: Alton McCloud\, Bernard Martin and Allen Mincey will demonstrate Revolutionary tent encampment\, weapons and their display of Revolutionary items. \nEACH SESSION WILL DIVIDE INTO 3 EQUAL GROUPS AND REPORT TO A STATION. \nEACH STATION WILL LAST 15 MINUTES AND THEN ROTATE TO NEXT STATION. \n After each session\, there will be a demonstration and firing of the Brier Creek Militia and the Brier Creek Artillery of our 50 Cal. Flintlock rifles\, 75 Cal. Brown Bess Muskets\, 69 Cal. French Charleville Muskets\, one 6-pounder Naval\nCannon\, two 6-pounder Field Guns\, one 6-pounder Coehorn Mortar and an 8-pounder Field Gun.
