SUMMARY:Siege of Savannah
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, October 9th\, participants will meet at 8:30 AM in the Savannah History Museum parking lot at 303 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The march will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and proceed down West Boundary Street and along Louisville Road\, concluding with a ceremony at Battlefield Memorial Park. \nIn the early morning hours of October 9\, 1779\, the Battle of Savannah occurred on the current grounds of Coastal Heritage Society’s Tricentennial Park. The battle was one of the bloodiest of the American Revolution\, where approximately 800 troops died or were wounded. On Thursday\, October 9th\, 2025\, the Society\, our friends\, donors\, patriotic organizations\, and community leaders will follow in the footsteps of those who fought that day 246 years ago.  \nOn behalf of the Coastal Heritage Society\, we invite you to attend the 2025 Battlefield Memorial March to honor those who fought\, fell\, and sacrificed for our freedom. The event will include a ceremonial march on the path of the allied attacking columns\, followed by a dedication of stones and a presentation of wreaths to commemorate the fallen soldiers. \nA light brunch will be available for the event attendees following the ceremony. \nIndividuals and organizations are invited to bring a wreath to be presented during the ceremony. Please contact me to RSVP for this event and notify me whether you or your organization wants to bring a wreath. I can be reached at dmccall@chsgeorgia.org or (912) 944-7457.  \nDaniel McCall – Manager of Membership and Special Events – Coastal Heritage Society – dmccall@chsgeorgia.org \nCell: 912-944-7457

SUMMARY:National (TN) - Gathering at Sycamore Shoals
DESCRIPTION:Per discussions with the staff of Sycamore Shoals and we have concluded that moving the Gathering to\nthe weekend of September 19-20 would provide a new perspective on the Gathering. They had\nalready planned to have the fort full of reenactors displaying different pioneer chores in the cabins\nof the fort\, cooking\, sewing\, making black powder\, plus many other things that will tie to the launch\nof the Overmountain Men on their march to Kings Mountain on Sept. 25.  We would have to move\nthe Gathering ceremony to the Amphitheatre\, but that has now been updated and will be comfortable.\n\nDetails will be forthcoming

SUMMARY:National (NJ) - Battle of Springfield
DESCRIPTION:Battle of Springfield Commemorative Wreath Laying\n\nSaturday\, June 21\, 2025\n3:00 PM  4:00 PM\n\n\nBattleground Cemetary39 Mountain Ave.\, Springfield\, NJ 07081 (map)\n\n\nGoogle Calendar  ICS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHelp us commemorate the 244rd anniversaries of The Battle of Springfield\, June 23\, 1780\, and the Battle of Connecticut Farms\, June 7\, 1780. These were two of the most important battles of the Revolutionary War and the last to occur in the northern theater. In two successive attacks\, British and Hessian troops tried and failed to finally capture George Washington and defeat the Continental and New Jersey Militia forces that had kept them bottled up in New York City for several years. At Springfield\, the second of the two battles\, referred to by some as the “Forgotten Victory\,” roughly 1\,500 Continentals\, including the 3rd NJ Regiment\, and an undetermined number of militia units\, blocked over 6\,000 British and Hessians from attacking the main body of Washington’s army through the Hobart Gap. Two weeks earlier\, the town of Connecticut Farms\, since renamed Union\, was largely destroyed by the invaders in a similar failed attempt. \nOn June 22 at 3 pm the NJSSAR Color Guard will participate in two wreath layings commemorating the Battles of Connecticut Farms and Springfield\, beginning at Battleground Cemetery\, 39 Mountain Avenue\, Springfield\, and continuing with a march to Springfield First Presbyterian Church where a second wreath will be laid. \nWebsite: Click here \nContact: Christopher Sands rex44roger@aol.com

SUMMARY:National (FL) - Galvez Day - Battle of Pensacola
DESCRIPTION:The National Society SAR and the Florida Society SAR invite you to a National SAR event honoring The Battle of Pensacola and General Bernardo de Galvez.\nSchedule (all times are in Central Time):\n08:30 – Color Guard Muster at Fort George \n09:45 – Color Guard procession from Fort George down to the Galvez Monument \n10:00-10:30 – Ceremony at the Galvez Monument \n11:30 – 2:30 – Luncheon at Pensacola Yacht Club (Reservations are REQUIRED.  Link below) \n3:00 – 3:30 – Wreath Laying at the Minuteman Monument in Veterans Memorial Park \n  \nThe Color Guard will have the pleasure of once again being under the command of Scott Collins\, Vice President General for the NSSAR South Atlantic District and the NSSAR Color Guard Commander. \nYou’ll note that there are some changes to the schedule from what has been published.  There is no service at St. Michael’s Basilica this year due to scheduling problems\, so the overall ceremony in the morning will be much shorter.  Also\, the women from the DAR will be “mustering” with the color guard up at Fort George and following behind the Color Guard as we come down Palafox Street to the Monument.  Unlike past years\, I have asked that the color guard not have to stand flanking the monument with the flags for the entire ceremony but rather post the colors and be able to then find a seat or find some shade.  The City of Pensacola is running the morning ceremony\, and they have asked that we not retire the colors at the end of the ceremony. \n  \nFor those who are staying for the luncheon and the wreath laying\, Rhonda Brach\, the current Regent of the Fort Pickens DAR\, has offered her house at 903 N. Spring Street for Color Guardsmen and others to come and cool off a bit before heading to the Luncheon at 11:30. \n  \nLink to purchase a ticket for the Luncheon:  https://ecom.roller.app/uwfhistorictrust/galvezpublicluncheon/en-us/home \n
