DESCRIPTION:The National Society SAR and the Florida Society SAR invite you to a National SAR event honoring The Battle of Pensacola and General Bernardo de Galvez.\nSchedule (all times are in Central Time):\n08:30 – Color Guard Muster at Fort George \n09:45 – Color Guard procession from Fort George down to the Galvez Monument \n10:00-10:30 – Ceremony at the Galvez Monument \n11:30 – 2:30 – Luncheon at Pensacola Yacht Club (Reservations are REQUIRED.  Link below) \n3:00 – 3:30 – Wreath Laying at the Minuteman Monument in Veterans Memorial Park \n  \nThe Color Guard will have the pleasure of once again being under the command of Scott Collins\, Vice President General for the NSSAR South Atlantic District and the NSSAR Color Guard Commander. \nYou’ll note that there are some changes to the schedule from what has been published.  There is no service at St. Michael’s Basilica this year due to scheduling problems\, so the overall ceremony in the morning will be much shorter.  Also\, the women from the DAR will be “mustering” with the color guard up at Fort George and following behind the Color Guard as we come down Palafox Street to the Monument.  Unlike past years\, I have asked that the color guard not have to stand flanking the monument with the flags for the entire ceremony but rather post the colors and be able to then find a seat or find some shade.  The City of Pensacola is running the morning ceremony\, and they have asked that we not retire the colors at the end of the ceremony. \n  \nFor those who are staying for the luncheon and the wreath laying\, Rhonda Brach\, the current Regent of the Fort Pickens DAR\, has offered her house at 903 N. DESCRIPTION:246th Anniversary of the Battle of Brier Creek Weekend \nFriday\, March 7\, 2025 \nWe will have 4 sessions 9:00\, 10:30\, 12:00\, 1:30 at the battlefield with the following schedule for each. \nContact our event coordinator for reservations. \nSTATION #1: Dr. John Derden will share ideas for upcoming tours &amp; present an overview of the history of the battlefield &; the direction to be taken to ensure a maximum acquisition of the findings on the site &; its preservation.\nSTATION #2: Steve Burke will share his lifetime collection of Revolutionary period artifacts\, weapons\, clothes\, etc. with assistance from Lee Herron and Don Bazemore.\nSTATION # 3: Alton McCloud\, Bernard Martin and Allen Mincey will demonstrate Revolutionary tent encampment\, weapons and their display of Revolutionary items. \nEACH SESSION WILL DIVIDE INTO 3 EQUAL GROUPS AND REPORT TO A STATION. \nEACH STATION WILL LAST 15 MINUTES AND THEN ROTATE TO NEXT STATION. \n After each session\, there will be a demonstration and firing of the Brier Creek Militia and the Brier Creek Artillery of our 50 Cal. Flintlock rifles\, 75 Cal. Brown Bess Muskets\, 69 Cal. French Charleville Muskets\, one 6-pounder Naval\nCannon\, two 6-pounder Field Guns\, one 6-pounder Coehorn Mortar and an 8-pounder Field Gun. The culmination of the Yorktown campaign\, the siege proved to be the last major land battle of the American Revolutionary War in the North American region\, as the surrender by Cornwallis\, and the capture of both him and his army\, prompted the British government to negotiate an end to the conflict.\nParade formation may be viewed here (click on link): Yorktown SAR Formation\nNote: this event also marks the bicentennial of the return of the Marquis de Lafayette to Yorktown in October 1824 and is expected to be a significant commemoration.

DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED due to weather related issues in the area.\nThe Henry Laurens Chapter (Aiken) South Carolina Society and the Colonel William Few Chapter (Augusta) Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution \nCordially invite you to attend the \n244th Anniversary Commemoration of the First Siege of Augusta \nSaturday\, 1:00 PM\, September 28\, 2024 \nSalvation Army Kroc Center Auditorium\, 1833 Broad Street\, Augusta\, Georgia \nSchedule of Events: \n\n9:30 AM – 12:00 PM. We will host a combined meeting of the Georgia and South Carolina C.A.R. in the Kroc Center Auditorium.\n12:00 PM – 1:00 PM. The local SAR chapters with assistance from the Augusta Chapter\, NSDAR\, will host a luncheon consisting of BBQ sandwiches\, potato salad\, and tea provided by Larry Sconyers BBQ in the Kroc Center Lunchroom. There will also be dessert. You must sign up for the luncheon in advance and the cost is $16.00 per person.\n1:00 PM – 1:45 PM. We will conduct the commemoration ceremony in the comfortable 300-seat Kroc Center Auditorium. The ceremony will consist of bringing greetings\, a battle seminar by Historian Steven Rauch and wreath presentations.\nFollowing the indoor ceremony\, we will go out to the battlefield behind the Kroc Center to watch a mock battle reenactment demonstration to be conducted by our militia and artillery sections firing black powder muskets and six black powder cannons.\n\n  \nSAR\, DAR\, C.A.R. and other patriotic and lineage societies and chapters are invited to participate in a formal wreath laying ceremony as part of the program.
