This annual National SAR Color Guard event is hosted by the Somers Chapter. \nFollowing the 10am service\, we will move to Port Republic grave marking ceremony in Port Republic which is about 5 minutes away. \n\n\n1130am for the Micajah Smith grave marking (Patriot Ancestor of South Jersey Chapter member Kenneth McGill.) \n\n\nPort Republic City Hall will be open for light refreshments following the ceremony. \n\n\nAttending: Serfass\, McGill\, Williams\, Magnum

DESCRIPTION:The SAR National 250th Commemoration of the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia\, PA\, hosted by the Pennsylvania SAR and the Philadelphia Continental Chapter on Saturday\, 12 October 2024 \n10am Harriton House Tour\, Charles Thomson Home – 500 Harriton Road\, Bryn Mawr\, PA \n1-2pm Charles Thomson Grave Marking – Secretary of the Continental Congress – Laurel Hill East Cemetery\, Philadelphia \n4-5pm Carpenters’ Hall\, 250th Ceremony – 320 Chestnut Street\, Philadelphia \n5-6pm Carpenters’ Hall Private Tour  \n6-8pm SAR Dinner\, Glory Beer Bar & Kitchen – 126 Chestnut St\, Philadelphia \nHosted by the Pennsylvania SAR and the Philadelphia Continental Chapter \nEvent Registration: You may register for the 250th events at the following link: https://forms.gle/5Het77H2u7okx4ys7    The registration deadline is September 30th. \nThe first event will take place at 1:00 pm at Laurel Hill East Cemetery in Philadelphia\, where we will conduct a Patriot grave marking for Charles Thomson\, Secretary of the Continental Congress. \nThe SAR 250th Commemoration of the First Continental Congress will take place at 4:00 pm at Carpenters’ Hall\, the location where the First Continental Congress met from September 5 to October 26\, 1774\, and the Continental Association was adopted October 20th \nThe 250th Commemoration will be followed by a private SAR tour of Carpenters’ Hall from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm \nThe day will conclude with an SAR Dinner at Glory Beer Bar & Kitchen beginning at 6:00 pm. \n*********** \nHotel: The hotel room block rate is $229 per night from Oct 11-13 (Friday and Saturday night).
