DESCRIPTION:Elijah Clark State Park – 2959 McCormack Highway\, Lincolnton\, GA 30817 \nThe 2023 Heroes of the Hornets’ Nest Remembrance will kick off at 10:00 AM at the restored cabin and Elijah Clark Museum at Elijah Clark State Park with a variety of demonstrations on colonial lifestyle\, including demonstrations of colonial attire\, a Traveling Trunk display\, period dulcimer music\, and cannon and musket demonstrations.  Authors of new period books will be on hand for book signings. SAR Color Guard members will bring pomp and circumstance to the occasion.  A free indoor chili cookout and dessert buffet at noon will be served compliments of the Elijah Clark State Park\, Lincoln County Historical Society; Atlanta and William Few Chapters GASSAR; Elijah Clarke Chapter NSDAR. Noted local historian and SAR Compatriot David Noble is the featured speaker. The wreath ceremony will follow at 1:30 at the Elijah and Hannah Clarke gravesite. \n1:00 PM – Please arrive for Wreath Presentation Check-in. \n1:30 PM – Heroes of the Hornets’ Nest Wreath Ceremony at Elijah Clarke’s grave. DESCRIPTION:There will be many Wreaths Across America Events on this weekend and at various times.  Please try to support any of these events you can attend.  Wreaths Across America is considered a National SAR Color guard event. \nProgram will stat at NOON.  Color guard should report about forty-five minutes to an hour early. \nThe Georgia Society SAR Color Guard will be participating at \nEast Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens \nHighway 124 \n87 Scenic Highway S \nLawrenceville\, Georgia \n\nThe cemetery will have 2 employees directing where to park as they enter.\n\nThe Color Guard may park to the left near the white buildings. No one else is parking there. They may enter the building using the steps on the right side of the first building to use the restroom\, change clothes\, or get some coffee or hot chocolate. These steps enter into the kitchen and the restroom is immediately past the kitchen.

DESCRIPTION:The State of Georgia will have a ceremony at Noon for the opening of Wreaths Across America Week in conjunction with the Georgia State Society National Society Daughters of the American Revolution at the State Capitol in Atlanta. \nThe Georgia Society SAR Color Guard has been asked to provide an Honor Guard for the Presentation of Colors and Retirement of Colors.  We can have as many flag bearers as we can muster. \nPLEASE NOTE that since this event is at the state capitol NO muskets\, rifle\, or edged weapons will be allowed. \nSince the Legislature is not in Session there should be parking available around the State Capitol.  Street parking might be available. \nThe following web address will take you to the Public Parking areas located around the Capitol. \nhttps://gba.georgia.gov/services/parking-services/general-public-parking \nMy plans are to park at the Steve Polk Parking Lot located at 65 Marin Luther King\, Jr. Drive\, Atlanta\, GA which is located by Elite Parking and is also referred to as The Freight Depot Parking area. for this lot you will need a credit/debit card and you must know you tag number when you punch your information into the kiosk. \nif you think you are coming PLEAE LET ME KNOW ASAP.  We can have as many as can attend I need to make sure to have enough flags. \nPlease attend if it is at all possible. \nOne Wreaths Across America event can be counted as a National Society SAR National Color Guard Event with any others counted as a state or chapter event as appropriate. \n

DESCRIPTION:Arrival time is no later than 3:30 PM \nParade with Musket firing \nThe Crawford County Georgia Historical Society has requested that we help them celebrate the county’s 200th anniversary on December 10\, 2022. \nPlease arrive by 3:30 PM – Parade to start at 4:15 PM – Assembly area is at the Old Crawford County Courthouse in Knoxville\, GA \nWe will be at the start of the parade\, immediately behind the police car and before the local JROTC unit. \nThey would like for us to march three times around the old Courthouse in Knoxville\, Georgia\, with a musket firing each time.  We will then the lead a parade approximately 1 mile to Downtown Roberta\, Georgia.  Vehicles are supposed to be available to transport those not able to walk this distance to a point closer to the parade ending in Roberta so you can join the finish. \nThe Militia is invited to fire their muskets at the courthouse and again in downtown.  All of this is subject to being able to meet safety protocols. \nVehicles are supposed to be available to get people back to the area where you parked your vehicle – John Trussell is coordinating the transportation for the Georgia Society SAR Color Guard.

On multiple occasions\, U.S. Senator Richard Russell pushed for acquisition of the property. Throughout the 1970s\, Georgia Representative Robert Grier Stephens\, Jr. and Georgia Senator Herman Talmadge introduced bills to establish Kettle Creek as a national monument. More recently\, Rep. Hice welcomed NPS Acting Director Dan Smith to the site and introduced legislation (H.R. 306) to direct the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study of the battlefield. The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives on December 3\, 2020.

DESCRIPTION:Subject: 2022 Battlefield Memorial March \nIn the early morning hours of October 9\, 1779\, the Battle of Savannah occurred on the current grounds of Coastal Heritage Society’s Tricentennial Park.  The battle was one of the bloodiest of the American Revolution\, where approximately 800 troops died or were wounded. \nOn Sunday\, October 9th\, 2022\, the Society\, our friends\, donors\, patriotic organizations\, and community leaders will follow in the footsteps of those who fought that day\, 243 years ago. \nOn behalf of Coastal Heritage Society\, we invite you to attend the 2022 Battlefield Memorial March to honor those who fought\, fell\, and sacrificed for our freedom.  The event will include a ceremonial march on the path of the allied attacking columns\, followed by a dedication of stones and a presentation of wreaths to commemorate the fallen soldiers. \nOn Sunday\, October 9th\, participants will meet at 6:45 AM in the Savannah History Museum parking lot at 303 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The march will begin promptly at 7:00 AM and will proceed down West Boundary Street and along Louisville Road\, where it will conclude at Battlefield Memorial Park.
