Memorial Day – Marietta National Cemetery – 8:00 AM

Marietta National Cemetery has requested a color guard and musket firing for the event on Saturday, May 23. The Marietta National Cemetery event begins at 8:00 a.m. and they have requested that color guard and musket firing participants arrive early (by 7:00 a.m. or so at the latest).

Brad Quinlan, when he reached out to me in February, said that the Secretary of the Interior has implemented a new requirement before musket firing at these kinds of events, that the musket firing individuals be provided a brief safety training. Hence, the early arrival request time. Brad knows that the SAR color guard members who fire muskets are well trained and apologized for the need, but apparently some kind of incident occurred last year that made the training/safety requirement be put in place (not related to these events)
