 Signer of the Declaration of Independence, War Governor of Virginia, and Commander of Virginia’s Forces.  He gave all for Liberty.

Thank you for joining us as we honor and perpetuate the memory of Virginia’s Revolutionary War Governor Thomas Nelson, Jr. at Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown on October 19.  If your organization will be presenting a wreath, please provide answers to the questions below and return this form not later than October 3  to:

All wreath presenters are requested to be on site by 9:00 AM and report to the lectern to verify correct name, proper pronunciation, and order of presentation.   Escorts and flag bearers are welcome.   The ceremony will start at 9:15 AM and will be completed by 10:15 AM.  All visiting SAR members are invited to join the VASSAR unit to march in the 3/4-mile parade at 10:30 AM and to attend the Patriotic Exercises afterward.  If you have any questions, please contact Gary O. Yorktown Day Celebration Wednesday, October 19, 2022

8:30 a.m. – Commemorative Ceremony at the French Cemetery, Yorktown Battlefield, sponsored by The American Friends of Lafayette and The Friends of Rochambeau.

9:10 a.m. – Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the grave of Governor Thomas the French and American Alliance, sponsored by the French Wars Veterans Association in Washington, DC.

10:30 a.m. – Yorktown Day Parade, Main Street, sponsored by the National Park Service.

11:15 a.m. – Patriotic Exercises and Memorial Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Monument to Alliance and Victory, Yorktown.

12:45 p.m. – 3rd Infantry Old Guard Fife and Drum performance at Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center.  Event sponsored by Colonial National Historical Park and the Yorktown Day Association.

Additional Activities

Visit the Town of York, the National Park Service Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center and Battlefield Tours, the Nelson House, the Custom House, the Watermen’s Museum, the Gallery at York Hall, the York County Historical Museum, and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. On the Battlefield Tour Roads, visit the siege lines, the redoubts, and Surrender Field.
