- Job Bowers was born in Virginia in 1755, of Welsh ancestry, and later moved to Wilkes County Georgia
- When the Revolutionary War broke out he joined the local militia. In October, 1779 while serving in the war, he was given a furlough to return home to check on his wife, Charity who was due to give birth. When he arrived he found a baby boy just a few days old. The first night he was home, a band of roving Tories pulled him from his home and brutally murdered him.
- For his service during the Revolutionary War, his widow Charity received a 100 acre land grant in Wilkes County on the 24th day of September, 1784. Another 150 acres was also given to her on the 24th of July, 1785.
- Married Charity; date unknown.
- Job and Charity Bowers had one son, William who is also buried in the same cemetery.
