During November 1780 he served in Col. Josephs' Phillips' Regiment in Salisbury, North Carolina. From August 1781 he served in Col. James Martin's Regiment and participated in skirmishes in North Carolina. He was laid to rest near his home off of present day Manning Gin Rd. in Bethlehem, ( N 33* 553202' / W 083* 40.380') In 1993 the site was on private property and access became difficult for the family so the grave site was moved to the Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery.
