Notes |
- Moses was born in Virginia and moved his family from Virginia to Georgia prior to 1790. He was given a large tract of land in consideration of his services in the war. He also obtained headright titles to other lands, about 1200 acres in all.
- When Holly Spring Baptist Church was organized in 1796, he donated about three acres of land as a site for the (old) church.
- Moses was a member of the first grand jury of Elbert Co. in 1790 and also served as Justice of Peace for many years.
- A VA Government marker was unveiled at his grave and the family history was read by Miss Delrey Adams a g-ggranddaughter. (Marker lost now).
- There is some confusion on the new Church Cemetery?the old one was plowed up and the markers were lost. The VA Marker for Moses Haynes was lost in the old cemetery and a marker was made to replace it.
- Married Sarah Elizabeth Scales date unknown.
- Received land in the 1827 GA Land Lottery as a Revolutionary War Veteran.
