    • Notes
      • Patriot Solomon Strickland born around 1739 in the Isle of Wight County, Virginia. Six years later, in 1745 Solomon's father Jacob Strickland purchased 100 acres of land in Edgecombe County, North Carolina where he moved his family.
      • Solomon Strickland married Amy Pace in 1764.
      • In June 1787 Solomon Strickland received a family headright grant from the State of Georgia for 41 ½ acres in Wilkes County. Solomon moved his family from Nash County, North Carolina to Georgia. In 1790 Georgia created Elbert County from part of Wilkes County. In 1795 Solomon sold his land on Blue Stone Creek to James Rogers.
In 1803 Solomon and Amy Strickland were listed among the charter members in the minutes of the Lystra Primitive Baptist Church near the township of Danielsville.
In 1811 Madison County was created from part of Elbert County.
Solomon and Amy Strickland moved from Madison County to Jasper County, Georgia in 1814.
      • The Jasper County Concord Primitive Baptist Church reported in its September 1816 deceased members list that Amy Strickland had died.
      • Solomon Strickland the younger moved from Jasper County to Henry County in 1821. Solomon the younger, as his father?s caretaker, selected his father?s final resting place, now in Spalding County.
      • In 1777 North Carolina revised its land entry system as the state took that responsibility away from King George?s agents. Under this new law each land transaction required a signed oath of allegiance to the state, not the colony, from all parties to finalize each land deal. According to the book entitled, ABSTRACTS OF LAND ENTRIES: NASH COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA 1778-1794, by Dr. Albert Bruce Pruitt, Solomon Strickland made a land entry in December 1778 for a 250 acre tract on both sides of the Great Branch of Turkey Creek in Nash County, North Carolina. By signing the land entry oath of allegiance Solomon Strickland began his public record as a Patriot who supported the American Revolution that today is recognized by both the DAR and SAR as service that defied King George?s rule and supported the Patriot cause.
There are several references to Solomon Strickland's service in the North Carolina Militia found in historical records of Henry county, GA including a statement that Solomon Strickland was at the Battle of King's Mountain under the command of General Elijah Clarke and the headstone contains "PVT NC TRP"; however, this service, to date has not been otherwise documented by North Carolina Muster rolls.
      • Solomon Strickland's grave was marked on 22 Oct 2016 by the Marquis de Lafayette Chapter GA SAR.
