      • Born 7 Sep 1742 in Middlesex County, Virginia Colony. He was the son of Thomas Maxwell Sr. and Keziah (Blake) Maxwell.
      • Thomas Maxwell married Jun 1761 in Middlesex, VA Mary Pemberton. He was the Father of John Maxwell, Keziah (Maxwell) Henry, Thomas J. Maxwell III, James Maxwell, Elijah Maxwell, William Maxwell, Jesse Maxwell, Joel Maxwell, Sarah (Maxwell) Christian, Jeremiah Maxwell and Elizabeth (Maxwell) McMullan. One of his daughters married Patrick Henry's son.
      • Rev. Thomas Maxwell was from Virginia and fought in the Revolution. He was a defender of the Baptist Faith and was jailed for preaching the Bible in Culpeper County, VA. Dramatic event in his life- he and many others were jailed for preaching the Gospel. It was said, lawyer Esquire Patrick Henry at that time had him released. (Patrick Henry was later one of the crafters of our Constitution especially the 1st Amendment).
      • After the revolution, Thomas Maxwell traveled to Elbert County by wagon train and began to preach the Baptist Faith establishing churches (Falling Creek, Holly Springs, Line Baptist Church and other churches).
      • He drew land in the 1825 Land Lottery. He was a member of the Major Dobbs Battalion of Elbert County.
