- Bill was born in Charleston County, South Carolina, served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Delta Airlines. He was a member of the Lyman Hall Chapter, SAR, and was the Founding member and first President of the Blue Ridge Mountains Chapter. He was an Eagle Scout and became an executive in the Boy Scouts of America.
During the Grave Marking Service, Vice President Harry Strickland said these words about Bill:
