- A native of York County, Pennsylvania, he enlisted in Shenandoah County, Virginia, and served for eight months in Captain Michael Raider's Company of the Virginia Troops. He re-enlisted and served as a private in Captain John Rush's Company of Colonel Harris' Regiment of the Virginia Continental Line and also in Captain George Huston's Company commanded by Colonel Sims. After the Revolution, he lived in Rutherford and Buncombe Counties, North Carolina. He later received a pension for his services. In 1838, he was living in Union County, Georgia.
