      • Murray McAfee, lives in Senoia, Georgia and he was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Murray graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in City Planning. He was city manager of Senoia, Georgia and a member of the Historical Society where he served as a past President. Murray began collecting H.O. scale trains at age ten and has enjoyed his hobby through the years. He says he is a ?car guy? and has enjoyed building Porsche engines and racing classic Porsche cars. Murray served in the United States Navy and at age nineteen saw combat duty in Vietnam aboard his ship the USS Estes. One of their duties was to be a lighthouse for the duster planes as they sprayed the coast with Agent Orange. Through the years he had many strange illnesses including classic Agent Orange Cancer and Diabetes. His doctor told him in 2005 that he had about a year and half to live so last seven years were very much appreciated. He was not bitter about being sick. He said, ?I have had so many more years to enjoy life than many other boys, I have been blessed.? Murray was a member of East Armuchee Baptist Church in Villanow, Georgia.
      • In becoming a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Murray fulfilled one of his long time desires. He proudly joined under his ancestor John Williamson, who came to America from Ireland about 1740 and landed in Virginia. He served as a Private in the Virginia Troops. Williamson was a dyer and weaver by trade and he wrote a book on dyeing and weaving. After the revolution, he drew 300 acres of land in Wilkes County, Georgia. This is recorded in the Georgia Secretary of State?s office with a date of July 12, 1790. John Williamson died in Butts County, Georgia October 9, 1831 and is buried a few miles from Jackson, Georgia, in the Williamson - Knowles Family Cemetery. The cemetery is located on Highway 16 between Jackson and Griffin.
