      • Sydney was born and raised in Clarkston, GA. He graduated from Clarkston H.S. and earned the rank of Eagle Scout when 16 years old. He received his B.S. degree in Forestry from the Univ. of GA, M.S. degree in Wildlife and Fisheries from Auburn, Univ. and Ph.D. in Wildlife Mgmt.also from Auburn. He returned to Univ. of GA. and taught for 32 years.
      • He enjoyed genealogy and family history. He taught his grandchildren and other young people the good and the bad of our country along with the importance of voting and standing up for what you believe.
      • He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and several other historical societies. He was especially proud of his membership in the Sons of the American Revolution. He appreciated their love, protection and teaching of America's history and their commitment to this cause. He enjoyed his time with like-minded friends at various SAR occasions.
      • Served in U.S. Navy as Radar-man, 3rd class; served aboard USS Yellowstone AD-27; inducted Jan. 29, 1952, discharged Jan 28, 1960. Completed 8 years military service (2 years active duty, 6 years inactive duty).
      • Marriage: Nedra Pearl Tyler b. Sept. 14,1939, Newburg, Franklin County, PA on May 30, 1959.Four children, 3 girls, Dorothy, Linda, Merry and one son, Bryan (d. 1990).
        Nedra worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. Credit Dept., lawyers (clerical), local newspaper (typesetting), and 15 years part-time as Deputy Clerk, Clerk of Superior Court, Oconee County, GA. She also served as Mayor of Bishop, GA and a member of the City Council.
