- A native of North Carolina, he served as a private in the North Carolina Continental Army under Colonels Jones Johnston and Jethro Summer. He served at Charleston and Savannah and participated in the Battles of Valley Forge, Brandywine, and Germantown.
- He served in the Georgia Legislature from Baldwin County where he died.
