- Patriot Burns was born in Ireland and migrated to the coloinies before the outbreak of the American Revolution. He served as a drummer and fifer in the 1st Regiment of North Carolina troop under Major John Baptist Ashe's Company. He enlisted for three years on May 20, 1777. He moved to Georgia from Orange County North Carolina after the Revolutionary War and was one of the founders of Hebron Presbyterian Chruch, where he is buried.
