- During 1793, James Head, Sr. received bounty land within Georgia for his Revolutionary War services and relocated with several younger brothers: Benjamin Head, Jr., who married Margaret (Peggy) Gaar, a daughter of Lewis Gaar, he brother of Michael Adam Gaar's, a Culpeper County, VA, Lt.; George Marshall Head, who married Mildred (Milly) Rucker a daughter of John Rucker (Joel Rucker, her brother was security to her marriage to George Head); William Head who married Sally Oliver of Culpeper County, VA; Tavenor (Tavenah) Head who married Jean (Jenny) Plunkett of Orange Country, VA.
- James Head married Elizabeth Janet (Powell) Kirtley, daughter of Simon, of Bromfield Parish, VA on 05 Dec 1775.
