- James Ramsey was born in Virginia and moved by 1774 with his father 's family to a section of North Carolina which later became a part of South Carolina. He served in the Revolutionary War in South Carolina, most likely Camden District. Shortly after 1800 Ramsay and his wife Rachel moved to Franklin County, Georgia., where he died in 1823.
