    Biography James Hooper



    Patriot James Hooper was born on October 25,1746 and enlisted in 1778 in Lunenburg County, Virginia and served 12 months as a private in Captain John Stokes' Company, Major Massey's Battalion of the 6th Regiment of the Virginia Continental Line. He fought at the battle of Guilford Courthouse and later drew land in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery as a Revolutionary War Soldier and resident of DeKalb County. His widow, Elizabeth Chambers Hooper applied for a pension on January 7, 1839, little more than a year before her death.

    Patriot Hooper was honored at a grave marking service at the Sandy Springs United Methodist
    Church Historic Cemetery on September 23, 2000.
