Education Day – Brier Creek Weekend
March 1 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
We will have 4 sessions 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, 1:30 at the battlefield with the following schedule for each.

STATION #1: Dr. John Derden will share ideas for upcoming tours & present an overview
of the history of the battlefield & the direction to be taken to ensure a maximum acquisition
of the findings on the site & its preservation.
STATION #2: Steve Burke will share his lifetime collection of Revolutionary period
artifacts, weapons, clothes, etc. with assistance from Alton McCloud, Lee Herron, and
Bernard Martin.
STATION #3: Ted Walker and Allen Mincey will demonstrate Revolutionary tent
encampment, weapons and their display of Revolutionary items.
EACH SESSION WILL DIVIDE INTO 3 EQUAL GROUPS AND REPORT TO A STATION.
EACH STATION WILL LAST 15 MINUTES AND THEN ROTATE TO NEXT STATION.
After each session, there will be a demonstration and firing of the Brier Creek Militia and the Brier Creek Artillery of our 50 Cal. Flintlock rifles, 75 Cal. Brown Bess Muskets, 69 Cal. French Charleville Muskets, one 6-pounder Naval Cannon, two 6-pounder Field Guns, one 6-pounder Coehorn Mortar and an 8-pounder Field Gun. Afterwards, Taps will be played on the bugle by Compatriot Don Bazemore of the Brier Creek Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution.
